Teacher Guide

A step-by-step walkthrough for teachers - from setting up your account to running classes, assignments, and (if you subscribe) deeper analytics.

1. Create your teacher account

Sign up at Create Account as a teacher. Everything covered in steps 1-6 below is completely free, with no subscription needed - classes, assignments from our public quiz bank, and the Markbook are all yours from day one.

2. Link your school

From your Dashboard's Admin section, use "Link Account to Your School" to tell us which school you teach at. This is self-declared and used for organising your account - it doesn't verify anything by itself (see step 3).

3. Get verified (only needed if you'll use paid features)

If you want to unlock a subscription's deeper analytics later, you'll need to get verified as a genuine teacher first - this is separate from linking your school, and protects your students' data. From your Dashboard, use "Get Verified" and either submit a way for us to confirm you (e.g. a link to your school's own contact page), or simply use a school email ending .sch.uk/.ac.uk to be fast-tracked. You can skip this entirely if you're only using the free features.

4. Create a class

Use "Manage Classes" to set up a new class - pick a subject and exam board, and you'll get a shareable join code students can use to add themselves.

5. Add students

Two ways to do this, and you can mix both in the same class:

  • Share your class join code - students self-register and join themselves. No setup work for you, and these students always get full analytics access for free.
  • Bulk-create accounts yourself via "Add New Students" - useful if you'd rather set up logins for your class directly. This works whether or not you're verified.

6. Create an assignment

From "Create Assignment," pick a class, a quiz, and a due date. Any teacher - verified or not, subscribed or not - can assign a "public" quiz to as many students as they like. Once your school has a subscription and you're verified, you'll also be able to assign from the wider "free" tier quiz pool, though only to the specific students you've put in a paid seat (more on that in step 8).

7. Track completion in the Markbook

Your Markbook shows every assignment as a column and every student as a row - completion, score and lateness at a glance, always free regardless of subscription status.

8. Subscribe for deeper analytics (optional)

Once you're verified, enquire about a subscription for your school. A subscription covers a set number of student seats - use "Subscription" from your Dashboard (or the Access column on "Manage Students") to choose which of your students are seated. Seated students unlock full assignment review with a per-question breakdown, and deeper per-topic performance analytics for you to see as their teacher.

9. Review an assignment in depth

"MCQ Assignment Review" shows who's completed an assignment and who hasn't for every student, and for seated students, a full per-question breakdown of how the whole class answered.
